They say laughter is the best medicine, so get ready for a much-needed dose delivered up in The Play That Goes Wrong. Set in the 1920’s, the actors of The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society do their level best to uphold the time-honored adage that “the show must go on” as they present to you the opening night of “Murder at Haversham Manor”. Quickly things go from bad to disastrous, and with an unconscious leading lady, a corpse who can’t seem to play dead, and actors who not only trip over their lines, but everything else on stage, you have the recipe for a riotous dose of healing laughter!

September 23 – October 22
Bright Star is a beautifully written musical about a young woman growing up in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. We see her first as a young carefree woman and then watch how her life changes as she becomes a well-to-do magazine editor 22 years later. Her story is inevitably woven with that of an idealistic young man named Billy, with whom she shares a mysterious connection. The blue grass score, (written by actor Steve Martin and Edie Brickell) provides a rich musical palette with which this story is painted.

Leishman Hall Performances

June 10 – July 2
The Leishman Hall Black Box Theatre is proud to present the beloved and longest running musical in history, The Fantasticks. This charming tale, set in simpler times, is a story of two childhood friends who fall in love, and their meddling fathers who build a wall to keep them apart. The play opens with its most famous song, “Try to Remember”, sung by the narrator El Gallo who invites the audience to remember the happy and innocent days of their youth and then to follow along as this delightful story unfolds.

July 29 – August 20
A Murder is Announced, by Agatha Christie, begins with the local paper printing an announcement of a murder, a murder that will take place at a later date and time. This intriguing post piques the curiosity of the surrounding neighbors in this small English town enticing them to join in on what they think is a party game, but they soon find out that this is anything but a game. It is in fact a murder…
The plot thickens as each character’s motives, relationships and alibies converge to create the quintessential murder mystery in classic Agatha Christie style.
