Farmington Canyon to Francis Peak
Farmington Canyon is stunning in the summer and fall, offering a lush escape from the valley heat (just keep in mind the road closes for the winter season). The views of the valley and the rugged backcountry are truly unmatched. Be sure you’re comfortable with the risks of driving on dirt mountain roads in your own vehicle, and it’s never a bad idea to brush up on your tire-changing skills before you head up. Want to make it a weekend trip? Pack your camping gear and spend a night under the stars at the Bountiful Peak Campground.

Wasatch Skyline Drive
This route is a long dirt road that takes you deep into the heart of the Wasatch Mountain Range. Serving as a high-altitude bridge between Bountiful and Farmington, this ridge-line trail offers incredible 360-degree views of both the Great Salt Lake and the mountain wilderness to the east. If you aren’t looking to do the full point-to-point trek, it’s easily done as an out-and-back by heading up Ward Canyon and simply returning the way you came. Just like the canyon roads, the weather can change fast at the top, so bring an extra layer and keep an eye on the sky!
