Davis County Tourism & Events (County), also known as Discover Davis, values the privacy of users accessing its website, discoverdavis.com. The purpose of this notice is to inform visitors how data information is collected, used, and shared. County has also included information on how you can access, change, or delete your data.

Personal Identification Information

Unless you knowingly and willingly provide information for the purposes of providing services and requested information, Discover Davis does not collect such information through the website. For the purposes of this policy, “Personal Identification Information” means any information collected online that could serve to identify an individual, such as:

  • First and Last Names
  • Home or Business Addresses
  • Email Addresses
  • Telephone Numbers

Personal identification information may be collected through e-newsletter forms, brochure request forms, contests, feedback forms, surveys, and request for proposal forms. Any information collected in this manner will be stored in a secure data processor managed by AutoPilot and will be used only for those purposes stated at the time of collection. Data will be kept indefinitely unless you request for it to be removed. A visitor may contact the County to request to have their data deleted. The request may be sent by email to tourism@daviscountyutah.gov or by mail to Davis County Tourism & Events, PO Box 618 Farmington, UT, 84025 and should include First Name, Last Name, Address, and Email Address(es), and Telephone Number(s) to allow for the most efficient removal.

When you choose to submit such information, you are transferring that information into the United States of America and are consenting to such transfer. All data transferred will be/is encrypted via Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure, or HTTPS transfer, through a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Visitors can always refuse to supply personal identification information, noting that choosing to do so may prevent the user from engaging in certain site-related activities.

Except as otherwise permitted by law, the County does not knowingly collect, use or disclose the personally identifiable information of a child under the age of 13.

Choice/Opt-in

On certain pages of the website, users may opt-in to receive communications by providing their email address. The County uses several email platforms to manage the different segments of users. If the user wishes to receive move emails beyond the first point of contact, they must double opt-in.

Meeting Planners & Visitors: Email marketing is facilitated through AutoPilot. Planners may choose to opt-in and out of marketing (commercial) emails. If you have made public posts from your social media accounts that include our specialized hashtags (eg. #PlayInDavis, #UtahsAmusementCapital #DiscoverDavisUT #DiscoverDavis), County may collect and use the information in those posts.

Analytics

County also uses Google Analytics to provide County and its staff information about how visitors engage with the website so that County can improve it. You may choose to opt-out of Google Analytics and still have full access to the website. Cookies and IP Addresses

Non-personal identification information may be collected using cookies or functionally equivalent technology. The data collected may be provided to third parties, as specified below. The data collected also is used for statistical analysis of the website and advertising effectiveness. County does not attempt to connect this data to personally identifiable information.

A cookie is a piece of data stored on a device if you have visited a specific page, downloaded information, or filled out a form on discoverdavis.com. Each visitor may choose to accept the placement of cookies on our site, and if cookies are rejected, visitors are still able to access our site.

An IP address is a sequence of numbers that identify a connection to the internet. County uses IP addresses to review trends and movement through the website. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. County may detect user IP addresses for providing location-based user information and services and may disclose IP addresses to the contracted data processors as specified in this privacy notice.

AutoPilot

WordPress

WordPress is the CMS used by the County. Plugins used within WordPress include: Advanced Custom Fields PRO, Contact Form 7, GDPR Cookie Consent, Pods – Custom Content Types, Redirection, Relevanssi and WP Crontrol. Retargeting & Remarketing

County uses retargeting and remarketing technology, including but not limited to those listed below, to show our ads to visitors who have previously visited our site as they browse the web. Third-party vendors use cookies and/or pixel tracking to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to discoverdavis.com.

Google Ads

Google’s remarketing and similar audiences features in Google AdWords permit us to reach people who previously visited our website. Google’s interest categories, interest-based advertising, and demographic and location targeting features are similarly used to reach people who are likely to have interest in the County.

Google and its vendors use cookies to serve ads based on past visits to our website. Information about how you can opt-out of Google’s use of cookies is available in Google’s Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt-out of third-party vendor use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page, or to opt-out of only DoubleClick’s use of cookies, by visiting the DoubleClick opt-out page.

In addition, County may use clear GIFs, or pixel tags, provided by our ad serving company to help manage our online advertising. These allow our ad server to learn which banner ads bring users to our website. The information County collects and shares through this technology is not personally identifiable. Visitors must accept the tag when they visit the website.

Facebook

Facebook Pixels are installed on the County website and used for advertising purposes. Visitors may learn how to control the ads they see from this link

Surveys and Contests

Occasionally the County may request personal identification information from visitors via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user, therefore, has a choice to disclose this information. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site. Contact information will be used to notify winners and award prizes. Visitors’ personal identification information is not shared with third parties unless the County gives prior notice. Though the County may use an intermediary to conduct these surveys or contests, they may not use our users’ personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

Data Security and Quality

County is committed to data security and the data integrity collected from our website. County takes precautions to protect personally identifiable information from loss, misuse, or alteration. Any authorized third-party processors are committed to the same principles for protecting this information. Visitors should be aware, however, that even though protections are in place, the County cannot guarantee against the occurrence of hardware failure, unauthorized intrusion, or other technical problems. County acknowledges that GDPR requires companies to notify regulators of a data breach within 72 hours.

Non-County Websites

Visitors may click on links that lead to member and non-member websites from discoverdavis.com. County is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites. Many of these sites, particularly those in the private sector, may not be subject to Utah Code or federal law.

Those visiting external sites are advised to check the applicable privacy statement and be cautious about providing personally identifiable information without a clear understanding of how the information will be used. County has listed these commercial services out below and encourages visitors to review their privacy statements. 

Though County makes every effort to preserve user privacy, County may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein County has a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, or legal process served on our website.

By using this website, you agree to our Privacy Notice and to the use of the information County receives and collects as stated herein and in ways, County may notify you of in the future. By providing any personal information to this site, you acknowledge that you fully understand and consent to the collection and processing of such information.
