Whether you’re looking for a brisk morning hike to work up an appetite or a peaceful evening stroll to walk off the feast, these trails offer the perfect dose of crisp fall air and calm amid the holiday rush. Here are some of great trails to explore this Thanksgiving season.
PRE DINNER
Adams Canyon
A Davis County classic. This moderate 3.5-mile hike winds through golden foothills and a rocky canyon to a stunning waterfall. Start early to catch the morning light on the cliffs, it’s the perfect way to build up an appetite.
Deuel Creek
The trail follows a shady canyon lined with maples and evergreens, winding alongside the creek and crossing it several times over charming wooden bridges. Hikers can enjoy cool canyon air, small waterfalls, and even a scenic overlook of the valley below. There are both lower and upper trail options making it easy to tailor the distance to your day.
Buffalo Point
Short, sweet, and spectacular. This one-mile round trip gives you panoramic views of the Great Salt Lake, rolling hills, and maybe even a few bison grazing in the distance. Perfect for families or visitors wanting a scenic start to Thanksgiving.

Legacy Parkway Trail
Stretch your legs on this flat, paved path that runs through the heart of Davis County. The Legacy Parkway Trail is ideal for a casual evening walk or bike ride to unwind after dinner.
Bonneville Shoreline Trail
This extensive trail network offers plenty of gentle routes overlooking the valley. Sunset views of the Great Salt Lake make it a peaceful way to end the holiday.
South Fork Kays Creek
A hidden gem with paved paths, bridges, and quiet creek crossings; great for families or anyone looking for an easy, reflective post-feast stroll.
