Scan and Share: Black Military History in Northern Utah

March 9 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This March, the Hill Aerospace Museum invites you for an afternoon of collaboration, sharing, and learning about Black military history in Northern Utah. The Hill Aerospace Museum is partnering with the Utah Historical Society, Ogden NAACP, Project Success, and the Sema Hadithi Foundation to collect stories relating to Black military history in Northern Utah—both uniformed and civil service—to preserve and showcase the legacy of those who served in Utah. WHERE: Hill Aerospace Museum, Lindquist-Stewart Gallery WHEN: Saturday, 9 March 2024, 12:00PM – 4:00PM WHAT WILL YOU FIND? Community partners from around Northern Utah will gather to showcase their stories and their work to uncover the impact of Black military history in Northern Utah, and other aspects of black history across the state. WHO IS INVITED? Everyone is welcome! Especially if you have memories you want to share from your time at Hill Air Force Base. Have something to share? Bring photos, letters, recipes, and other items (old and new!) that represent you, your family, your community, and your military contribution at Hill Air Force Base. Staff from Utah Historical Society will ask you questions about your items (date, people, location), create digital copies, and return the originals to you. These digital copies will become part of the Peoples of Utah Revisited online collection. In this collection, your materials will be freely available for present and future generations to learn about your community.
