Review: The Little Mermaid @ CenterPoint Legacy Theatre
by Discover Davis

Disney’s classic musical fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, is such a joy to see at CenterPoint. Watching this live performance of one of my favorite childhood movies was very nostalgic.
When CenterPoint’s Ariel sang “Part of Your World” I got goosebumps. I think everyone can relate to idolizing another life or place, so even if you aren’t a young lady this show is very relatable.

CenterPoint’s Sebastian was my favorite character because he was so lively, energetic, and hilarious! When he got the sea kingdom all together onstage for “Under the Sea” I wanted to get up and dance with them! And I loved the “Kiss the Girl” scene, where Sebastian and his pond friends perfectly orchestrate romance.

My date’s favorite character was CenterPoint’s Ursula. She had a strong, melodic tone that perfectly fit her dark character.

This show is especially fitting for a daddy-daughter date night, as you see the complexity of Ariel and her father King Triton’s relationship play out. However, the love between Prince Eric and Ariel is also fitting for date night with that special someone.

Something you’ll notice right away, is the beautiful stage art and design. I was blown away with the details.

Now that you’re sure you want to go see the magic ‘under the sea’, go buy your tickets. This show has been so popular that they added two matinees, so you know available seats won’t last long.
Thanks to CenterPoint Legacy Theatre for putting on another great performance and immersing me back into my imagination.
