SUMMARY:Summer Fun Fest
DESCRIPTION:Summer Fun Fest is Davis County’s annual celebration of agriculture\, community\, and the traditions that have kept this valley connected to its roots for generations. Some things are worth holding onto. The smell of sawdust and livestock. Neighbors catching up in lawn chairs. That feeling of belonging to something bigger than yourself.\n\nPicture a kid walking into the show ring with an animal they’ve cared for and raised — excited\, proud\, years of 4-H meetings and early mornings behind them. Picture a neighbor you haven’t seen since last summer\, finding you in the bleachers. A dog who came in without a home and leaves with one. A tractor that’s older than anyone watching it\, humming back to life. That’s Summer Fun Fest. Six days of the things that matter in a place built to hold them.\n\nThis is community. This is Davis County. Come be part of it.\n\nJuly 27- August 1\, 2026\nThis calendar listing is brought to you by NowPlayingUtah.com\, Utah’s one-stop\, online website for arts and entertainment events\, powered by the Utah Cultural Alliance.

SUMMARY:Davis Arts Council’s 250 and Counting Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States of America offers an opportunity to reflect on a history shaped by challenge\, change\, and resilience\, and on a future that continues to unfold.  The Davis Arts Council’s 250 and Counting exhibition asks artists to approach this milestone not only through theme\, but through artistic process.\n\nArtists are invited to create a work consisting of 250 or more intentional actions – marks\, strokes\, stitches\, knots\, lines\, cuts\, or other repeated gestures. These accumulated actions serve as a meditation on the many trials\, triumphs\, setbacks\, and successes that have shaped the United States over time\, and the many that still lie ahead.\n\nArtists working in all visual media are encouraged to interpret the idea of “250 actions” in ways that are meaningful to their individual creative practice\, and as part of the submission process\, Artists are asked to briefly describe what constitutes an “action” in their work. Artists may choose to continue beyond the 250th action as a reflection on the future of the United States\, in addition to its past. Each artist may submit up to two pieces for consideration\, but each piece must consist of a different medium and/or “intentional action.”\n\nPrizes will be awarded for Best in Show and Honorable Mentions.\n\nLOCATION: Davis Arts Council’s Snow Horse Gallery is located at the Davis Conference Center/Hilton Garden Inn.\n\n\n\nThis calendar listing is brought to you by NowPlayingUtah.com\, Utah’s one-stop\, online website for arts and entertainment events\, powered by the Utah Cultural Alliance.

SUMMARY:Tarzan
DESCRIPTION:Based on Disney’s epic animated musical adventure and Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan of the Apes\, Disney’s Tarzan features heart-pumping music by rock legend Phil Collins. Washed up on the shore\, an infant boy is taken in and raised by gorillas. Tarzan’s life is mostly monkey business until a human expedition treks into his tribe’s territory and he encounters creatures like himself for the first time. Tarzan struggles to navigate a jungle thick with emotion as his animal upbringing clashes with his human instincts. High-flying excitement and musical hits like the Academy Award–winning “You’ll Be in My Heart” make Disney’s Tarzan an unforgettable theatrical experience.\n\n\n\nThis calendar listing is brought to you by NowPlayingUtah.com\, Utah’s one-stop\, online website for arts and entertainment events\, powered by the Utah Cultural Alliance.

SUMMARY:Anthropocene: Landscapes of Use\, Memory\, and Transformation
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition explores how artists interpret and engage with the land—its forms\, histories\, and transformations.Through photography\, sculpture\, installation\, and moving image\, the featured works reflect on ancestral agriculture and land practices\, modern infrastructure\, environmental change\, displacement\, and ecological systems\, while considering personal\, political\, cultural\, and spiritual relationships to place.\n\nThe term Anthropocene is used to describe a proposed geological epoch defined by the profound and lasting impact of human activity on the Earth’s systems. This exhibition considers the landscape not as a passive backdrop\, but as an active record—shaped by use\, intervention\, and memory.\n\nAcross the exhibition\, artists trace the visible and invisible forces that shape place: extraction and preservation\, erosion and renewal\, habitation and displacement. In Utah and throughout the American West\, landscapes carry layered histories of settlement\, labor\, and stewardship that continue to inform how place is experienced\, remembered\, and understood.\n\nRather than presenting landscape as stable or untouched\, the exhibition reveals it as dynamic—shaped by competing uses\, pressures\, and histories. Salt accumulates\, structures rise and erode\, images document and distort. Across scales—from the intimate to the monumental—artists examine how human presence alters not only the physical environment\, but also our cultural\, political\, and spiritual relationships to it.\n\nAcross these works\, landscape emerges as both subject and consequence—shaped not only by natural forces\, but by the persistent imprint of human presence.\n\n\n\nThis calendar listing is brought to you by NowPlayingUtah.com\, Utah’s one-stop\, online website for arts and entertainment events\, powered by the Utah Cultural Alliance.

SUMMARY:Real Grief | Potential Grief
DESCRIPTION:Real Grief | Potential Grief by Sydney Porter Williams\nExhibition Run Dates: 06.26 – 07.24\n\nGrief has a long reach. Real grief lives in my body\, as an intense weight on my chest as a lost loved one’s song loops in my mind. Potential grief took root in me through generational trauma\, inherited before I had words for it. I conceptualize generational trauma as a desperate hand gripping my arm\, ever-present and controlling. Inherited grief and the patterns left by abuse can keep people enmeshed in a family system long after the source of harm is gone\, shaping identity in ways that are hard to see and harder to separate from.\n\nThis installation holds what remains. I work with closely cropped photographs of hands from generations of my family. These gestures are difficult to categorize as either loving or controlling\, but they carry the weight of substance abuse\, loss\, and cycles of harm that move through the people I come from.\n\nThe sound weaves together songs and voices of my family over time\, filling the space with what is cherished and what is feared to lose. A childhood crib overflows with textiles preserved across generations\, and a holy water jar from a Last Rites box contains remnants of an early pregnancy I lost years ago. Medication bottles line the walls\, lit from within like votive candles\, and a canopy of embroidered flowers hangs overhead\, at once sheltering and shrouding the contents of this installation.\n\nReal Grief | Potential Grief explores how experiences of loss can create a constant anticipation of future grief\, when that loss has not yet occurred. It moves between what has been lost and what might be lost. It traces how grief\, both real and anticipated\, shapes the self\, while documenting the slow formation of an identity that is no longer fully defined by what came before.\n\n\n\nThis calendar listing is brought to you by NowPlayingUtah.com\, Utah’s one-stop\, online website for arts and entertainment events\, powered by the Utah Cultural Alliance.

SUMMARY:2026 Summer Nights With the Stars: Lou Gramm: The Original Voice of FOREIGNER
DESCRIPTION:Gramm was born in Rochester\, New York\, and began his musical career in his mid-teens\, playing in local Rochester bands\, including St. James Infirmary (later The Infirmary)\, and PHFFT. He later sang harmony vocals in another local band\, Poor Heart. Gramm then went on to sing and play drums\, and to eventually become front man for the band Black Sheep. Black Sheep had the distinction of being the first American band signed to the Chrysalis label\, which released their first single\, “Stick Around” (1973). Black Sheep played in niteclubs in Rochester and Buffalo\, NY including McVan’s\, formerly at Niagara Street and Hertel Avenue. Soon after this initial bit of success\, Black Sheep signed with Capitol\nRecords\, releasing two albums in succession [Black Sheep (1974) and Encouraging Words (1975)]. They were the opening act for KISS when an icy accident with their equipment truck on the New York State Thruway suddenly ended the band’s tour on Christmas Eve\, 1975. Unable to support its albums with live performances\, Black Sheep came prematurely to a screeching halt.\n\nWith the blessings of his Black Sheep bandmates\, Gramm flew down to New York to audition for the still-unnamed band. With his powerful vocals\, he got the job. Lou Grammatico then became Lou Gramm\, and\, with the band initially known as “Trigger\,” and later renamed Foreigner\, became one of the most successful rock vocalists of the late 1970s and 1980s. Circus magazine in 1978 upon release of “Hot Blooded” commented that Lou Gramm had a voice that Robert Plant might envy. His unique vocals have made Foreigner one of Billboard’s Top 100 Artists of All Time in hit songs history.\n\nGramm was the lead vocalist on all of Foreigner’s hit songs\, including “Feels Like the First Time”\, “Cold as Ice”\, “Long\, Long Way from Home”\, “Hot Blooded”\, “Double Vision”\, “Blue Morning\, Blue Day”\, “Head Games”\, “Dirty White Boy”\, “Urgent”\, “Juke Box Hero”\, “Break It Up” and “Say You Will”. He co-wrote most of the songs for the band\, which achieved two of its biggest hits with the ballads “Waiting for a Girl Like You”\, which spent ten weeks at #2 on the 1981-82 American Hot 100\, and “I Want to Know What Love Is”\, which was a #1 hit internationally (US & UK) in 1985. Their first 8 singles cracked the Billboard Top 20\,(4 went Top 10) making them the first group since the Beatles to achieve this in 1980.\n\n\n\nThis calendar listing is brought to you by NowPlayingUtah.com\, Utah’s one-stop\, online website for arts and entertainment events\, powered by the Utah Cultural Alliance.
