Spring has sprung! It’s hard to believe May is already here but we are here for the warmer days full of hiking, golfing, birding, rollercoasters, and more! May has a lot of fun events including the first-ever Davis Heritage Festival and the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival to name just a couple. There are so many ways to play in Davis and something fun for everyone, so grab the family and enjoy springtime in Davis!

The 24th Annual Great Salt Lake Bird Festival

The 24th Annual Great Salt Lake Bird Festival is a four-day event and is the premier bird festival in northern Utah! Located on the edge of Great Salt Lake, you’ll discover a birder’s paradise at one of the greatest natural locations in Utah.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join our fun, FREE, workshops throughout the festival, many of which will feature live birds! Learn More

North Salt Lake Kite Festival

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the NSL Kite Festival! This fun festival will include live music, food trucks, a kid parade, cake walk, and some kite decorating.

Antelope Island

Baby bison are here!

These babies are also known as “little reds” or “red dogs” because of their coat color which will gradually change as they get older.

Be sure to practice bison safety while on the island and don’t get too close for that picture! No-see-ums are out and viewing from your car is always a good option!

PSA!! No-see-um season is here! These biting gnats hatch each spring as the weather warms up and will be on the island until temps get hot enough to kill them off (typically through June). This is still a wonderful time to visit the island, but be aware and go prepared. But spray is ineffective – your best defense is the special no-see-um head nets (which are available at the Visitor Center if you forget to bring one with you), and wearing long layers to keep your skin covered – or driving the island and viewing from your car. Their bites are itchy and very irritating, similar to mosquito bites.

Cross E Ranch – Baby Animal Festival

Great Basin Fiber Fair

Where: Legacy Events Center | Map

When: May 6 – 7 | 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

This is a non-profit organization that promotes the fiber arts as historical and thriving art forms. There will be demos and a variety of classes about knitting, spinning, crochet, felting, dyeing, weaving, rug making, and other fiber arts! This event will also include over 40 vendors selling animal fibers – both raw and prepared, yarn, tools, and other hand items.

  • Hiking

    With over 500 miles of paved and unpaved trails, there’s a hike in Davis for every skill level. Be sure to check trail conditions prior to heading out on mountain trails. Check out our favorite hikes here.

  • Biking

    Our impressive trail system here in Davis has great routes for leisure biking or mountain biking, check out our favorites here.

  • Golfing

    Davis is home to 10 beautiful golf courses — nine public golf courses and one private country club. Each course has beautiful views of the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Mountains, and several are highly ranked in Utah and in national golf publications. Check them out here.

  • Frolfing

    With at least half a dozen disc golf courses in Davis, it’s a great opportunity to get outside and try something new. Check out the courses at Freedom Hills Park in Centerville and Davis Technical College to get started.

  • Bountiful Town Square

    Whether you’re experiencing Dave in the winter or the warmer months, Bountiful’s Town Square has the Bountiful Ice Ribbon in the winter which then becomes a path for roller skating and blading, walking and strollers in the spring. Reservations will not be required, but check with the South Davis Rec Center for opening dates after the ice rink closes for the season.   • Antelope Island

    Discover guided e-biking and horseback riding tours, hike, camp, or get in that salty water.  Antelope Island State Park has numerous fun activities!

  • Birding

    Take a trip to the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve or the Farmington Bay WMA/Eccles Wildlife Education Center to discover the magic of the Great Salt Lake wetlands and ecosystems, which includes fantastic birding opportunities (our area gets 4 million feathered visitors each year)!

    • Enjoy the Theatre

      We’ve got lots of incredible theatres and productions in Davis this year in 2022, check them out at the: CenterPoint Legacy Theatre, Hopebox Theatre, and On Pitch Performing Arts! (OPPA)

    • Experience Station Park

      Visiting Station Park is more than just stores – it’s an experience in itself! This open-air shopping center features more than 100 shops and restaurants, from nationally branded to locally owned. A great place to spend the day outdoors, with something for everyone in the family. Be sure to watch the beautiful fountain show, designed by the same hydro-engineering wizards who built the famed Bellagio fountain in Las Vegas.
