Family Fun at the 2021 Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride

by cheyenne

Take a ride on the wild side at the annual Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride! Since the inaugural ride in 1994, organized by Discover Davis with support from Friends of Antelope Island, the event has continued to attract families and community members for nearly three decades. This year’s event is coming up on June 25, 2021 at Antelope Island State Park.

Come early for the pre-party and your chance to win big prizes!

Check-in starts early this year at 7:00 pm, which gives you plenty of time to enjoy all the fun at our Great Gatsby-style pre-party. Everyone is welcome to dress up or decorate their bike for a chance to win this year’s grand prize- a $500 gift certificate to Biker’s Edge for a brand new bike! There are also many other prizes and raffle items up for grabs.

Every year there’s a theme, that some choose to match for their costume or bike decorating. This year’s theme is The Rolling ’20s, so you’re sure to see a lot of ritzy flapper girls and dapper-looking boys.

Special for this year only, join us at the prohibition-style Speakeasy Mocktail Lounge and try our two non-alcoholic event drinks.

Also at the pre-party will be food trucks, vendor booths, and plenty of photo ops, including classic 1920s cars that will be on display. Music will be playing all night thanks to Now 97.9 and our event MC, radio host Justin Taylor.

The ride is at night, under the stars and moonlight

Once the sun has set and stars come out, the bike ride starts at 10 p.m. when everyone takes off on their glow-stick-decorated bikes. You must take the opportunity to look up at the night sky, because Antelope Island is an International Dark-Sky Park, meaning it’s far enough from light pollution that the stars shine much brighter than in the surrounding cities. And since this is a non-competitive ride, you are welcome to break to stargaze if you please.

Not only will you be surrounded by fun-spirited riders, under beautiful stars and the glowing moon, but the ride is on Antelope Island State Park. This park is known for its hundreds of antelope, bison, birds, and more, so you may get to add the excitement of encountering wildlife during your bike ride. You will also get to experience the Historic Fielding Garr Ranch during your halfway point pit-stop. There’s so much history and beauty to enjoy there. Plus, refreshments are provided so you can refuel.

Fun for the whole family

The ride is a non-competitive out and back loop that is 24-miles total. Children and adults of all ages join us every year and have conquered the ride. And since it’s non-competitive, you can go at the pace you’re comfortable with and take as many breaks as needed.

In addition to being a spectacular event, proceeds of this ride go to Friends of Antelope Island — one of the original supporting organizations of the Moonlight Bike Ride — for projects that enhance the Antelope Island visitor experience and help bring improvements to the Island so all can continue to enjoy this land for many years to come.
